Making buns..

Last Sunday me and Aunt Michelle was busy making buns in the afternoon. Aunt Alice had left over bread flour and was afraid that will expired soon, so she passed the flour to Aunt Michelle which was in baking fever recently.

It was such a long time since i try making buns, i use make lots of buns and bread back in college time when my aunt Alice lend me her old bread machine. Although i try making lots bun but not everytime was successful. Sometimwe the bun too hard and sometimes i over baked it till burned.

It was easy to make the buns especially when you had the bread machine. Jus threw all necessary ingredients for the dough in the machine. It will knead and rise itself.
When the dough was ready. Jus roll it to shape and add in the ingredients you like.

The buns we make this time was successful. We make different types of buns and one of them is the very popular mini sweet buns in Terengganu.
They have this in different filling in Terengganu, but we make the original one which is the butter bun.

And then we have the sausages and tuna bunAnd finally the mix vege bun:
P/S: Taugeh and TSP , you may help yourself with buns now!

Chef Julia - Restaurant Max Gourmet Sdn. Bhd.

Hi friends, Chef Julia is here again to introduce a restaurant to you. The place was discover by JoZe's Aunt. We had been there twice. The restaurant located just outside Queensbay Mall along the shop houses. The restaurant was named Max Gourmet.Sorry for the blurry pic. JoZe taking using her ciplak (lousy) camera phone.. Please bear with it as more blurry picture coming up cos she don't have a compact camera now. The previous one belong to her sister, her sister had took it with her to Kayell. But her ciplak camera phone sometimes work fine... like the picture of the Mean Machines's post, was oso taken using her ciplak camera phone. Oh my! I am starting to sound like JoZe... too much crap here.. Let's go back to Max Gourmet.

The restaurant served asian food. First let me introduce the chef recommendation food:This dish is Golden bun with curry chicken. The bun was very delicious, it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And when dipped into the curry it was perfect. The curry chicken was not bad oso. JoZe loves this dish very much cos she is a fan of curry chicken. She never failed to order this when she went there.

Next is a dessert: Mango Pancake
The white filling is a whipped cream and mango pieces. If you like whipped cream you will like this dessert. For JoZe and her aunt they would prefer if the whipped cream was ice cream.

Next are the recommended dish from me:Crispy Noodle with BBQ Pork. The crispyy noodle is very delicious. If you don't like BBQ pork you can order with Roast Chicken, Pork or Duck.

Next, would be the Lo Mai Kai. Sorry no pic for this dish... It look jus like any Lo Mai Kai you can get at any Tea House but the taste is very good. It can make you crave for it.

Max Gourment oso served Dim Sum and pastries:
Deep fried Prawn with pastry
Vietnameese Style Spring Roll

Other dishes we had taste include:Curry Paste Fish Fillet Baked RiceHiong Ha Lo Fried Rice

Roasted Pork and Duck

New Mall in town!

Today i went to the newly open mall in Bandar Perda , Bukit Mertajam. It is known as AEON Seberang Perai City or Jusco Bandar Perda. I seldom visit the mall across the island cos i knew the best mall in Penang already located on the island itself. Then i received an email bout this mall from a friend. It seems that this new mall is nothing lose to the Queensbay Mall, infact they have many restaurants which we don't have here.

The moment i step into the mall, i tot i was in Mid-Valley (KL) lower ground.... The participating brand are all similar to the one in Mid-Vally Megamall but Top Shop and Romp is missing though. And of cos it is not as big as Mid-Valley. From the outside its looks kinda of big but actually inside not very big only. Overall, i think this mall is great to hang out and gathering cos a lot of restaurant but shopping for me is so-so only la. I dun find any interesting shops but the clothes there are quite cheap lo. They have more accessories and footwear compare to fashion clothing. I am searching for something to wear to my friends wedding's dinner, and i found one dress at one shop. And the price is very reasonable. This dress make my trip worth. (From here maybe the dress doesn't look so chio lo... )

After shopping my friend Calynn get some donuts from Big Apple. I never try Big Apple's donuts before and not in a donuts' mood. After that we had our tea time in a restaurant named: Food & Tea.

I wanted to try the tea but i was afraid i will have sleepless night again. So i settled for dessert instead.

My Yin & Yang tong sui. Sorry the light is blue that why my tong sui look bluish. The flavor is Yam & Mango. The Yam one is awesome but the mango one is a bit weird lo... doesn't taste much like mango. But when you mixed the two together the taste is very good... But i still prefer the yam 1 lo. If order only the Yam one they served it with Yam ice-cream... drooling can't wait to try it next time.

Calynn oso ordered tong sui but hers is hot.
This is combination of water chestnut, jackfruit and fu chuk (bean curd sheets). This one ok oso la.

When me and Calynn look at food picture in the menu, it was so tempting... We hope that we can try everything... but cannot la...only two of us and its only tea time. So we jus ordered some finger food.Seafood roll. Recommended!

So, Food & Tea passed. I still have a few restaurant to try out- Black Canyon Restaurant , Che Go Korean BBQ and Splendid Cafe.... So cham! I so tham chiak dunno when only can slim down lei... nearly all my pants can't wear liao... ~>_<~

Moon Cakes or Packaging?

Hungry Ghost month has come to the end, this means we (the chinese) will be celebrating the Mid-Autumn Festival soon. Mid- Autumn Festival falls on the 15th day on the 8th month of the lunar calendar, we will be celebrating the festival on the 14th of September on Gregorian Calendar.

Traditionally, on this day, Chinese family members and friends will gather to admire the bright mid-autumn harvest moon, eat moon cakes and carrying bright lit lantern. Some family even burn incense in reverence to deities like Chang'e.

As for my family, we don celebrate at all. Especially all of us had grown up, and we don play lanterns anymore. As for moon cakes eating, we had start eating it before the day. (We had started eating moon cakes now). Talking about moon cakes, the packaging now is very nice, but those with nice packaging usually are expensive. The moon cakes from the pictures above are from Hotel Equatorial. The one with fork and knife are gifts from my sister's company, they cost around RM 100 +++. As for the mini ones, my sis bought it as a gift to her friends...that cost Rm38 for each.

I was wondering, if you buy moon cakes, you buy it for the taste of the moon cakes or the nice packaging. Personally, for me i like the packaging more than the moon cakes... How about you?

My 2008 birthday celebration

This year birthday was wonderful. Thanks for all those wonderful wishes from sms, phone calls, facebook, friendster and blog..

On the eve, hubby took me out for dinner at Secret Recipe just the two of us. I read in Ah Leng's food blog that the Meatball Spaghetti was not bad and i read someone else blog that the lasagna was oso nice. So i ordered this two dishes:

For dessert we share an oreo cheese cake. This is the first time i get to try the oreo cheese cake. A lot of times i try to order but it has finished. So i will order marble cheese cake instead. I still prefer marble cheese cake though.

On the day itself, actually in the morning me and Melissa are going back to our school - CGL to had the authentic Char Koey Teow. Winnie was on her MC leave so she decided to join us too. Unfortunately, the Char Koey Teow's stall was closed. So we settled for a dim sum at Macalister Road. After dim sum, they hang out at my place to online. They are going to tagged along with me and Vincy to the fish spa. But Vincy called and told me she will not be able to make it cos her mother-in-law was not around and she need to babysit her Princess Chloe.

So, the 3 of us went to Happy Feet in New World Park. I had my free session, and Winnie and Melissa had the 30 minutes session.A closer look at the fishes:

Apart from the FREE 30 minutes session, i was oso given a RM5 gift voucher.

After fish spa, we went back home. Later at night we came out again for dinner. This time with Calynn too. We went to had dinner at Feringghi Garden. A restaurant with very nice environment,
and oso nice foods. We ordered 4 dishes and shared:Baked Crab i assumed.. forgotten the exact name for this dish
Sizzling Lamb Chop - must try...this is delicious.. best among all Rosemary Grilled ChickenMongolian Sizzling Beef - ok but a bit salty

Nice environment like this is just a perfect place to camwhore:After dinner we went to Sunset Bistro it was located just behind Feringghi beach:
This place is very cozy a good place for drinking and chatting.
And they had the fire dance performance :
Check out the videos... This girl is awesome!

Pizza Hut: Starzbites Sausage Pizza

Have you try the Pizza Hut: Starzbites Sausage Pizza? I try it the other day... It was sausages in Chicago and New York style in a unique 16-bites star-shaped pizza. And at the center you can choose any topping of your desire from Family Favourite to Supremes.Well, it was so so only. The sausages are those normal "ciplak" sausage we can get it at the supermarket, jus that they top it with different sauce ... and the portion is slightly smaller but cost more than the normal regular pizza. Still prefer the normal pizza...

I didn't realize they miss out one ingredient in the pizza until i finish eating then only i saw it in the poster. It was suppose to have black sesame seeds at the end of each bites.
